彩虹 –周杰伦

This is another request by a YoutTube viewer.
The song is in the key of C. I have divided it into 4 parts.

Unlike many other songs, the (a) and (b) within each Part are not similar to each other at all. However, there are quite a lot of similarities in terms of progressions between different parts, such as between 1(b) and 2(a), between Part 3(a), Part (4) and later part of Part 1(a). Anyway, that’s only if this information matters at all. 🙂

This is a request by a YouTube viewer. The song is in the key of A, and transposed to B towards the end (after the Bridge).

I have divided the songs into 4 parts. Part 5 is actually the same as Part 3, except that it has been raised a tone higher, i.e., to the key of B.

This song is a request by a reader. It is probably more suited for guitar than piano. The instrument one hears in this song by Rihanna is a guitar, not a piano. Anyway, if I were to implement that on piano, this is how I would do it (see demo video).

The line is repeated again and again throughout the song. And that’s it!

Again, the fingers I used in the video are so that the viewer can see the notes I played more clearly. So please don’t following the fingering. It’s tough to play like this! On my right hand, however, it is difficult for me to make it any clearer. So, in order to follow clearly, you may need to slow down the video.

A few people have commented about my previous video on Rihanna’s song (Cry) being too fast. The way to slow the video down is to first download it from YouTube, then play the video from your harddisk using something like Windows Media Player that allows you to adjust the playback speed.

I have divided this song into 4 parts. However, Part 1 and Part 3 actually share the same chord progression of I –> V –> IIm –> IV.

One would notice that Part 2 and Part 4 actually use the same four chords above too, though in different orders. In fact, the entire song uses only these 4 chords.

For beginners, the challenge is in playing the rhythm well. Try it out.
